Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Lower-echelon silent cowboy star Yakima Canutt starred in this miniscule Western as the Pronto Kid, a presumed outlaw who in reality is the disguised owner of the beleaguered Golden Rod mine. The Kid had donned his disguise in order to infiltrate a gang of claim jumpers and is eventually aided in his quest by a kind sheriff and his daughter. Not blessed with a manly voice, Canutt could only watch as his starring career came to an end at the advent of sound. For a while, he played supporting roles, almost always villainous in nature, but his true claim to fame came as perhaps Hollywood's best remembered stunt coordinator. Canutt was awarded an honorary Academy Award in 1966. Directed by Ward Hayes, Wolves of the Road was one in a series of Canutt Westerns produced by Benjamin F. Wilson for release by Arrow.
