Independent, experimental documentarian Gregg Lachow tries to re-experience the feeling of being a school-aged child in What Is It Like to Be?, an hourlong documentary that places as much focus on the filmmaker and his technique as it does his subject. Lachow focuses his lens on Seattle's Capitol Hill Cooperative Preschool, attempting to give his viewers a child's perspective. Throughout, Lachow critiques his own efforts, ultimately determining that no film can give an accurate recreation of childhood.
