Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Why Cry At Parting? was adapted from the popular German stage musical by Hugo Hirsch. Drina Galla and Hugo Hirsch star as the young lovers who are continually separated, then brought together, then separated again, then brought together again, then . . . and they also kiss a lot in-between separations. In keeping with the film's title, few tears are shed, with special emphasis given the comedy relief characters played by Paul Hoerbiger and Vera Veronica. Evidently, all the musical numbers in Why Cry at Parting? were removed before the film was released in America.
