Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Long before Oliver Hardy teamed up with Stan Laurel, he was an established character comedian. He later said that some of his happiest years were spent with the Vim studios in Jacksonville, FL. Toward the end of his time there, he was even directing films. This one-reel comedy, released in March 1917, is his last known film for the studio. Giant George (Hardy) has been terrorizing the town of Hicksville, and the fresh, new police force is bound and determined to capture him (the 500-dollar reward is extra-added incentive). Although two cops, Budd (Budd Ross) and Slim, want to be the heroes, their efforts are interrupted by their attempts to win Ethel (Ethel Burton). In the midst of their romantic travails, Giant George appears and scares them away. The whole force goes after George, but the crook scares them off. With the help of a convenient mallet, however, Budd and Ethel manage to capture him. Budd earns the reward, and Ethel's love.
