Fabio Jafet's documentary Waking Up Dead follows drummer Phil Varone, a onetime member of the bands Skid Row and Saigon Kick, as he continues to carry on his attempt to make a living in the wild and often dysfunctional world of rock and roll. The director traces how the hedonistic and financially unstable lifestyle of a rock musician plays a large part in the destruction of many relationships and families. Jafat offers a first hand look at the plentiful amount of sex and drugs available to any rocker who might wish to indulge.
