synopsis
Set in Chicago during the Columbian Exposition of 1893, this tuneful romance centers on the attempts of an ambitious female performer (Betty Grable) to exchange a singing and dancing gig at a casino on Wabash Avenue for bigger, better things. Unfortunately, her current boss (Phil Harris) wants her to stay and so sets up a series of obstacles when his friend and rival, a Broadway producer (Victor Mature), takes an interest in the girl.
