synopsis
In this film Harold Bloom, Joan Richardson and James Merrill review the life and work of Wallace Stevens who was both an insurance executive and a poet. His secretive nature is discussed as well as his unhappy marriage and how he survived by transforming his reality through his imagination. Stevens produced both comic and meditative poems throughout his lifetime, this program explores both.
