Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

Vincent Van Gogh, the famed impressionist painter, is as known for his troubled personal life as for his works of art. This program looks at both. In part one, 16 of Van Gogh's paintings, such as Starry Starry Night and Self Portrait, are presented. Art historians provide commentary on each work's fine points, as well as the story underlying its creation. In part two, Leonard Nimoy takes on the persona of Theo Van Gogh. Theo offered his brother financial and emotional support, seeing him through his bouts of insanity. The viewer sees Vincent Van Gogh's heroic story through the eyes of Theo, in a one-man play.
