Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
At a family celebration, a group of ambitious newly-wealthy people demonstrate that the mere possession of money is no guarantor of gentility. In this comedy, they are all ostensibly gathered to send a son of the family off into the military; actually, they are there to curry favor with the lad's father, who issues licences for the respectability-conferring villas they long to build. The boy's family is no better, but he himself follows his heart despite the examples surrounding him.
