This video is the story of American P.O.W.'s who served in Vietnam, and was released to coincide with the 25th anniversary of their return to the United States. What is presented is a chilling yet inspirational account of the men who defied torture and death at the hands of their captors. It is the story of what Hemingway called courage: grace under pressure. In first person accounts, the former captives -- including now Arizona Senator John McCain -- tell stories of how they coped and survived. The viewer learns what life was like in the camps that soldiers, with characteristic humor, called The Zoo, The Briar Patch, and Alcatraz. There is a fascinating look at the use of propaganda films showing the prisoners, and the way the captives outwitted their captors by deviating from the prepared script in small but important ways to convey information. The film is a testament to the human spirit and the will of the P.O.W.'s to survive.
