Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Beautiful Adventure was based on a popular Charles Frohman theatrical production, which in turn had been inspired by a French stage play. The "adventure" beautifully referred to in the title is marriage, which from the outset is the goal of hero Andre (David Powell) and Helene (Ann Murdock). Most of the story takes place in a swell Long Island mansion, where the Fates converge to keep Andre and Helene apart until the very last moment. Most of the dialogue subtitles were lifted verbatim from the original stage play, but rather than bog down the action, this excess verbiage actually speeds the story along to its entertaining outcome. Clearly, director Dell Henderson had come a long way from the knockabout Keystone farces that he'd been piloting a season or so earlier.
