Synopsis by Mark Deming

Some unknown force is looking out for two people struggling to save their marriage in this drama from Thai filmmaker Pen-ek Ratanaruang. Nop (Nopachai Jayanama) is a photographer who is married to May (Wanida Termthanaporn); while they care for one another, their relationship has been going through a rough patch and May has been sleeping with her boss, Korn (Chamanun Wanwinwasara). When Nop is offered an assignment to do some wildlife photography that will take him out of the city and into the woods for a few days, he agrees and May decides to join him. After hearing some strange sounds late at night, Nop leaves their tent to investigate, and when May wakes up the next morning, she can only find his cell phone and sandals. After a few days of searching for Nop, May returns home and begins fearing the worst. As May realizes how much she still loves Nop, he mysteriously reappears. But is this the only magical act that has happened in the forest lately? Nang Mai (aka Nymph) was an official selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, where it was screened as part of the "Un Certain Regard" program.
