Synopsis by Mark Deming

A would-be rock star strives to turn the beat around for the forces of good in this offbeat comedy from Thailand. Bay (Krisada Sukoson) is a long-haired rock & roll drummer who studies in his spare time with a mystical Drum Master (Pranee Keebut) in hopes of some day reaching the Tenth Level of Enlightenment with the Drums of the Gods. One day, Bay slips into a trance while frantically bashing out a rhythm, and when he regains consciousness, he discovers someone has pulled a fast one on him -- his sticks have been replaced with daggers, and instead of swatting his drum kit, he's been stabbing his landlady. Panicky and certain someone is out to get him, bloody Bay turns to his girlfriend, Don (Nuntaka Worravanitchanun), a fellow student of the Drum Master. While Bay and Don struggle to find a way to clear his name as the police begin investigating the landlady's death, Bay must also prepare for the most important performance of his life -- a drum battle against a master musician from the sinister percussion corps the Devil's Drums. Bangkok Loco (aka Tawan Young Wan Yoo) was already a cult favorite amongst international DVD collectors when it received an enthusiastic reception in its North American premiere at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival.
