Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Avivato is one of those Latino slang terms that simply can't be adequately translated into English. The closest the American distributors came was Wiseguy. The leading character, played by Pepe Iglesias, is based on a popular Argentine comic-strip hero. His particular charm is the ability to enjoy all of life's creature comforts without paying a peso of his own money. The plot concerns Avivato's amorous pursuit of a supposedly wealthy young lady. Originally conceived in 1946 by Lino Palacio, Avivato continued to run in Argentine newspapers long after Palacio had moved on to other projects, and even inspired a monthly magazine of the same name.
