The Ed Sullivan Show (1955)

Synopsis
The legendary really big 'shew' was a Sunday-night variety staple for more than two decades, a something-for-everyone potpourri of musicians, comics, actors, singers, dancers, newsmakers (taking bows from the audience) and a range of specialty acts. Called 'Toast of the Town' until 1955, the series featured an impressive roster of talent introduced by a host whose stiffness and utter lack of stage presence made him peculiarly likable (and a popular subject for impressionists).
