Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Part one of a two-part X-Files drama, "Patient X" was written by series producers Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz. Many of the plot devices are familiar ones: a series of mass murders (this time the victims are burned alive), multiple disappearances, evidence of extraterrestrial involvement, and the like. New wrinkles include an FBI agent whose mother has witnessed the alien activity and a new threat to Agent Scully's health. Also figuring into the proceedings is rogue agent Krycek (Nicholas Lea), who, as usual, knows more than he's willing to reveal. "Patient X" first aired March 1, 1998.
