Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This society drama concerns that hoary situation in which the mother is trying to marry her daughter off to the highest bidder. Mrs. Pitman doesn't want to see her daughter Virginia (Katherine MacDonald) suffer the same poverty she went through, and encourages her to accept the proposal of the wealthy but elderly Colonel Jim Singleton (Charles K. French). Virginia, however, is not interested and Singleton insults her at a huge ball. Her brother, Robert (Tom Forman, who also directed), shoots the man and finds himself on trial for murder. Because she wants to hire a good attorney for Robert, Virginia is now more willing to find a rich mate, and she and her mother travel South. They find another prospect, Clayborne Gordon (Nigel Barrie), but he breaks off the engagement when he hears of the scandal. The girl, however, finds true love with a poor race car driver, Cole Hawkins (Bryant Washburn). After a thrilling climax, which includes a car flying over a cliff, Hawkins reveals that he's actually one of the wealthiest men in the state, so everyone is happy. This picture was based on a George Kibbe Turner story which appeared in the Saturday Evening Post.
