Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Nearly Married was based on a stage comedy by Edgar Selwyn, best known today as the co-founder of Goldwyn Studios. Newlyweds Harry and Betty (Frank Thomas and Madge Kennedy) split up before their union can be consummated when wifey insists that her lawyer brother accompany the couple on their honeymoon. Sensing a quick financial turnover, the brother suggests that Betty sue for divorce and demand a huge alimony settlement. In retaliation, Harry hires a professional co-respondent to place Betty in a compromising position so that Harry can counter-sue. But once their divorce is final, Harry and Betty realize that they're more in love with each other than ever before. Sound familiar?
