Letty Shell is a working girl who wants riches and social status. When she meets Nevill Letchmere (Lawson Butt), she thinks that she has found her ticket to the good life. She becomes infatuated with him and uses all her meager resources to win him, persisting even after she finds out that he is married. But other men and other opportunities come along, and she continues her hunt for a man who can offer her wealth. It takes her the better part of five reels for Letty to discover that her values are morally bereft and to settle down with a man she actually loves. This film was adapted from the play Letty by Sir Arthur Wing Pinero.
