An amusing farce from cult director Lucio Fulci, this goofy comedy is a showcase for Italian pop star Adriano Celentano, who plays a dual role as himself and a moron named Peppino who is hired to impersonate him by an unscrupulous manager. Peppino has run off after fathering a child, and the mother (Claudia Mori) saddles the baffled Celentano with the baby after threatening him with a rifle. Complications ensue as Celentano tries to keep the baby's existence a secret from a pretty girl (Donatella Turi) whom he is trying to woo, all the while paying the price for Peppino's bumbling attempts to impersonate him. There's plenty of singing, dancing, and comical fighting, as well as the obligatory routine with people running in and out of various hotel rooms -- which seems to be a staple of this genre. Rosalba Neri and Carlo Campanini show up as well, and Giacomo Furia has some clever bits as a rude hotel manager. While it is certainly funny enough, the entire venture seems like a pale imitation of a Jerry Lewis movie and recommended only for Celentano's fans.
