Synopsis by Jeff Gemmill
The story of Fidel Castro's Cuba is told through the country's National Art Schools. In 1961, architects Robert Gottardi, Ricardo Porro and Vittorio Garatti were asked by Castro and Che Guevara to build the schools. The project was abandoned, however, when the lofty ideals of the Cuban revolution gave way to Soviet-influenced functionalism. The documentary finds the three architects, two of whom had left the country, returning to the site to reflect on their unfinished creation.
