Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The weekly, hour-long cable series Ultimate Albums provided in-depth studies of the most important and influential record albums of the CD era (post-1985). In addition to recapping the albums' contents, the series also offered behind-the-scenes glimpses of how the albums were put together, replete with petty jealousies and ego-tripping. Among the works featured herein were Def Leppard's Pyromania, TLC's Crazy Sexy Cool, Red Hot Chili Peppers' BloodSugarSexMagic, Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet, Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood, No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, and Green Day's Dookie. Ultimate Albums made its first VH1 network appearance on March 10, 2002.
