synopsis
While it isn't really necessarily to be armed with foreknowledge of Phillipine customs while watching Turumba, such information does enhance the enjoyment. An upcoming holiday requires hundreds of papier-mache animals. The film's central characters are members of a family who specialize in construction such decoration. The family's herculean efforts to fill their momuntental order is the heart and soul of Turumba. Director Kidlat Tahimik went on to helm the internationally acclaimed Perfumed Nightmare (1989).
