Synopsis by Hal Erickson
It took the resourcefulness of the BBC production staff to come up with a show about archaeology which managed to be exciting and entertaining even for non-archaeologists. On each 55-minute episode of Time Team, a group of historical excavators descended upon a previously unexplored patch of British property, usually in someone's backyard. Over the course of a weekend, the team of "diggers" -- which included an historian and an expert in medieval lore -- endeavored to locate rare artifacts, then explain their historical and sociological importance. British viewers were first treated to Time Team in 1994.
