Just as the British sitcom Man About the House begat a spin-off titled George and Mildred, so too did Man About the House's American TV version Three's Company spawn its own spin-off, The Ropers. Having moved out of Santa Monica and into a ritzy Cheviot Hills townhouse, Stanley and Helen Roper (Norman Fell, Audra Lindley) immediately clash with their snooty new neighbors, the Brookes family (Jeffrey Tambor, Patricia McCormack, Evan Cohen). This pilot episode for The Ropers has since its March 13, 1979, debut been included in the Three's Company syndication package, even though John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and Suzanne Somers do not appear.
