Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

A fanciful kind of overview of Greek emigration throughout history, Periplanissis may be more meaningful in its home country than elsewhere. Starting in the 3rd century B.C. with Alexander the Great, the film follows the emigration of several different types of people, bringing the story at last, up to the present and into the future. Among the individuals leaving Greece are a poet, a lawyer, a disenfranchised noblewoman, a clown, a woman working in a train station, and others, such as an aging seaman. Each has their own story to tell, leaving a young boy for the very end as one who will emigrate in the future.
