Synopsis by Mark Deming

Fact and fiction become uncomfortably close in this stylish thriller from Thailand. Ting (Pitchanart Sakakorn) is an actress whose career has hit a slump and she's looking for a new direction. An opportunity comes from an unexpected corner -- a police detective hires her to take part in a series of re-enactments of major crimes, in which she will play the victim alongside convicted felons, who appear under the careful watch of the authorities. These photographed tableaux are then distributed to the nation's press, who present them as evidence that the guilty parties have been brought to justice. Ting proves to be exceptionally good at this work, and it leads to a role in a film about the murder of Meen (Apasiri Nitibhon), a one-time beauty queen who was killed by her husband. However, as work on the film progresses, Ting begins to notice some inconsistencies in the case, and begins to suspect that the real killer is still at large. Then again, perhaps Ting isn't who we think she is, either . . . The Victim (aka Phee Knon Pen) also stars Kiradej Ketakinta and Penpak Sirikul.
