Synopsis
"The Uprising of '34," a 1995 examination of a little-known strike by approximately 400,000 Southern textile workers frustrated by poor conditions in the mills. The strike is re-created through interviews, and for those involved the uprising and its ugly aftermath represented "the closest thing that this country has had to a revolution." The strike's legacy: a tremendous mistrust of unions.
