Synopsis by Mark Deming
A man with a daring plan tries to pull off a seemingly impossible crime in this drama inspired by actual events. Walter (Jeff Pickett) is a man living in the Pacific Northwest who is unsatisfied with his going-nowhere existence and decides to finance a new life by hijacking an airliner. Boarding a flight on Christmas Eve, 1970, Walter puts on a toupee as a disguise, informs one of the flight attendants that he has a bomb, and demands the plane land and he be given $100,000 and a parachute. Hoping to buy time and prevent a catastrophe, the pilots ask one of the flight attendants, pretty Donna (Lizzy Davis), to keep an eye on Walter, and as she feeds him a steady stream of alcohol, cigarettes and mild flirtation, she begins to get a more detailed picture of the man behind the threatening exterior. The Skyjacker received its world premiere at the 2008 Rotterdam Film Festival.
