A young man races home to Manila after receiving word that his father has suffered a heart attack, only to discover that the message was a prank and the locals have fallen prey to a mysterious killer. Louie thought that he had just lost his father, but Ulding is alive and well so who sent that text message? Something truly strange is unfolding in Louie's hometown. All around the barrio, people have been hearing an intense rumbling just before they are suffocated under layers of mud. Louie's childhood love Elma was one of the most recent victims, and upon visiting Alma's wake Louis is forced to confront some lingering issues with her grieving widow Nestor - who used to be Louie's best friend. His father having recently married an earthy mystic named Cora, Louie must also settle some pressing family matters. Suddenly, the killings start striking a bit too close to home for comfort. Could it be that the only way to stop this horror and save his father is for Louie to reclaim his roots and finally confront the past that he has been running from all these years?
