Almost 30 years before Peter Weir brought us The Truman Show, Paul Bartel (the man responsible for Eating Raoul) released this somewhat sleazy bit of surrealism on a similar subject. Jane (Amy Vane) is a secretary just trying to get by, but she doesn't seem to get along with anyone. She is harrassed by her boss (Gordon Felio), insulted by her psychiatrist (Barry Dennen), and dumped by her boyfriend, Dick (Philip Carlson). Eventually she starts to realize that she is being set up by these people because it makes for interesting cinema. A director is filming every move she makes and showing the results in a theater. It's like a prolonged version of Candid Camera.
