Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The successful star-director team of Dorothy Phillips and Ida May Park served up another box-office winner with The Rescue. Though she despises her ex-husband Kent (William Stowell), Anne Wetherell (Phillips) agrees to marry him again. The reason? Anne wants to spare Kent's latest sweetheart Nell Jerrold (Gretchen Holland) the humiliation of Kent's self-proclaimed philandering. It turns out that Kent is actually the hero of the piece: He had merely pretended to be in love with Nell (and the agreeable Nell had reciprocated) for the express purpose of winning Anne back again. Featured in this and several other Dorothy Phillips vehicles of the period was up-and-coming character actor Lon Chaney Sr..
