Synopsis by Mark Deming

Pol Pot was a Cambodian political theorist and Communist adherent who in 1963 began organizing a group of guerillas into a force he called the Khmer Rouge. In 1975, the Khmer Rouge overthrew the leadership of Lon Nol, and Pol Pot ruled Cambodia until his regime was overturned by invading Vietnamese forces in 1979. Years after Pol Pot's fall from power, the world became aware of the full extent of the devastation he wrecked upon his country; no one is certain just how many Cambodians died either at the hands of Pot's soldiers or due to his neglect of his own people, though most estimates put the death toll at between 1.5 million and 2 million people. The Red Masters Vol. 3: Pol Pot -- A Man Of Genocide is a documentary which takes a close look at the remarkable and horrifying story of one of the most dangerous and destructive leaders of his time.
