Synopsis by Mark Deming

One of Germany's greatest heroes during Word War I was Baron Manfred von Richthofen, a fighter pilot known as "The Red Baron," who led a group of fellow air aces who became known as "the Flying Circus." Richtofen was responsible for 80 kills during his military career, and his reputation was so great that when he was finally shot down by a Canadian pilot named Roy Brown in 1918, Allied forces gave him a military funeral with full honors. The Red Baron is a documentary that looks at Richthofen the man and the legend, and explains how his talent and skill changed the war in the air forever.
