Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Composer Gustav Holst wrote his symphony The Planets in a series of acts, each act representative of a planet and musically based on the astrological signs associated with that planet. In this release, filmmaker Rhodri Huw weaves together numerous disparate, metaphoric images into a kaleidoscope of visuals, which draw out the symbology Holst attributed to each celestial body, one planet at a time. This release also features contemporary composer olin Matthew's added movement Pluto the Renewer, which extends Holst's technique to the planet Pluto. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales provides musical accompaniment.
