This entertaining adventure comedy-drama came out of the Selznick studios. Arlee Eversham (Claire Anderson) and her aunt, Miss Eva (Adele Farrington), are Americans visiting India. At a hotel in Benares they are befriended by American Billy Hill (Jay Belasco) and Captain Falconer, an Englishman (Gerald Pring). Arlee is most fascinated with the Rajah of the province (Arthur Edmund Carew). She accepts an invitation to visit his palace because she wants to learn more about him. Miss Eva finds the letter of invitation, and, thinking it is meant for her, shows up at the palace, too, much to the Rajah's embarrassment. Arlee quickly comes to the realization that she is a prisoner at the palace and if she doesn't want to become a harem girl, she needs to do something. She somehow gets word out to Hill, who comes to her rescue. The Captain, who also loves Arlee, comes along and rescues a veiled woman that he believes to be her. To his consternation, it is Miss Eva.
