The seventh and final season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show opens with a vivid illustration of "Mary's Law": Whenever Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore) throws a dinner party, chaos or disaster is sure to follow. This time, chaos reigns supreme when Georgette (Georgia Engel), the very pregnant wife of anchorman Ted Baxter (Ted Knight), suddenly goes into labor. The other guests are so startled that they forget all about the main argument of the evening: the ever-mounting weight problems of newsroom boss Lou Grant (Ed Asner). "Mary Midwife" originally aired on September 25, 1976.
