Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Discover the truth behind the mystical artifacts featured in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as documentary filmmakers travel across the globe and back in time to seek out the truth behind one of the world's most perplexing enigmas. Perfectly carved out of quartz crystal and containing absolutely no carbon - an element essential to dating artifacts - the crystal skulls have confounded scientists and historians for centuries. At the beginning of the 21st Century there were only a handful of crystal skull relics known to exist - one of which can be found at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. There, museum curator Jane MacLaren Walsh has been working for sixteen years to discover the origins of the thirty-one pound crystal skull that was anonymously shipped to the museum back in 1992. As her investigation takes Walsh from ancient Mesoamerica to archives throughout Europe, viewers are invited to follow along and explore the Mayan legend stating that, in a time of great peril, thirteen skulls will be brought together to reveal the secret knowledge of the ages and save mankind from certain destruction.
