Emory Johnson directed a series of dramas that focused on different, primarily blue-collar professions. He made films about firemen, mailmen, railroad workers, and here he focuses on the newspaper industry, especially on the printing factory, as opposed to the usual editorial offices. Because he is at the nether end of middle age, Dan McDonald (Ralph Lewis) loses out to a younger man when the job of press tender comes up at the Chronicle. Dan's son, Rey (Ray Hallor), works for the district attorney's office, and the deputy there is involved with a gang of bootleggers. The gang frames Rey by trumping up a bribery charge. The story is about to hit the presses and Dan tries to stop it. He is knocked out by the new press tender, and the plant is blown up by Red McGann (David Kirby). Dan is accused of the deed, and his daughter, Polly (Frances Teague), and her reporter sweetheart set out to get the real story. They're successful and Dan and Rey are freed.
