Jealousy and misunderstanding causes serious obstacles for a British couple in love. This silent adventure chronicles their romantic travails. The young man is an explorer and just after asking his beloved's hand, he must return to the African jungle. Among his expedition is another young man who also loves the lady. The wicked fellow convinces the natives to murder the hero. They attack him and after stealing his identification papers, leave him in the bush, just barely alive. Meanwhile the would-be killers themselves are ambushed by head-hunters and slain. Later British explorers stumble upon the carnage and find the hero's papers on the headless corpse of the rival assume that is he and send word back to London. The poor fiancee is heartbroken and her pain is increased after her father forces to marry a man she does not love. Meanwhile, back in Africa, the hero recovers and returns to England. Seeing his true love has married, he immediately assumes that she betrayed him and so returns to the Dark Continent. Not long after, the girl tires of her miserable marriage and heads to Africa to tend her real love's grave. Imagine her joy to discover that he isn't dead after all.
