Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The full title of this 3-reel melodrama was The Ingrate, or the Veil of the Past. Unable to support his sweetheart (a bank president's daughter) in the manner to which she is accustomed, a young bank clerk resorts to robbing the safe. Alas, the safe has been fitted with a bear trap, thus the would-be thief is caught in the act. The clerk's boss (who, of course, is the heroine's father), magnanimously decides to forgive and forget -- a decision he has cause to forget, for by now the "hero" has decided to become a full-time embezzler. Things get even dicier when the now-crooked clerk falls hopelessly in love with a vampirish actress. The Ingrate was released in the U.S. by Union Features, a division of the Eclair company.
