Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Director Andrei Proshkin takes the helm for this sweeping historical epic tracing the 14th Century rise and fall of Mongol leader Khan Janibek. As the conquering Mongol empire extends its reach across Eurasia, Khan is troubled to learn that his mother has lost her sight, and summons Russian healer Metropolitan Alexei to restore it. When Alexi fails, he is banished to a lesser caste to suffer and die. Just when it begins to seem as if Alexi and his people are doomed, however, an unexpected miracle offers newfound hope for freedom.
