Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Actor John Lithgow narrates this film about the Gold Rush that started after gold was found at Sutter's Mill in California. Viewers will learn how quickly unfounded rumors spread that large quantities of gold were just waiting to be dug up by those daring enough to move West. Special segments look at some of the people who journeyed West in hopes of finding their fortune, and what it was like to live in California when panning for gold was so widespread.
