Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This film is based on the autobiography of its star, Ma Sha. Ma Sha was ignored by his prostitute mother and his wealthy businessman father. He grew up on the streets and became a pimp in a brothel. At 18, he killed one of the brothel's customers and went to prison for 12 years. While there, he spent a number of years in solitary confinement for fighting. On his release from prison, he worked hard to "go straight," marrying, working hard, and writing his autobiography. When he quite routinely undertakes to rescue a woman from a group of thugs, he is beaten and winds up in the hospital. This act of bravery lands him on the news, and once word of his biography becomes known, his previously unsellable manuscript becomes a hot item.
