synopsis
The Far Horizons is a highly fictionalized version of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Charlton Heston is Lewis and Fred MacMurray is Clark, both of whom are dispatched by the US government of 1803 to explore the land west of the Mississippi. They are guided through hostile territory by Sacagawea (Donna Reed), an Native American maiden whom they've rescued from a warring Indian tribe. Based on a novel by Della Emmons, Far Horizons is shaky history at its romanticized worst but it still provides satisfactory entertainment.
