Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The former lead singer of Blood, Sweat and Tears, David Clayton-Thomas returned to his native Canada to star in this eponymously titled half-hour variety series. Created by George Mendeluk and David Slabotsky, the program was built almost exclusively around the talents of its star, with little reliance upon guest performers, though a cast of regular backup singers and musicians was featured. Debuting June 25, 1973, The David Clayton-Thomas Show was evidently designed as a "filler," or perhaps as a trial run, for a longer-running series. Whatever the case, the producers pulled the plug after a mere three episodes on July 9.
