Synopsis by Cavett Binion

Originally released as The Redeemer: Son of Satan, this is a silly, sanctimonious slasher film with obtuse religious overtones. The stage is set as several college graduates are invited to a ten-year reunion at a spooky mansion, where they are soon systematically slain by a clown-masked killer. It is eventually revealed that the gathering is mere pretext, having been called by a mysterious interloper who intends to punish the attendees for their sins. The killer's perception of "sin" is rabidly conservative, with a particular distaste for homosexuals (two of the characters are crude gay stereotypes), obviously failing to take the whole "thou shalt not kill" thing into account while burning, drowning and strangling the assorted miscreants. The whole affair dovetails with a silly apocalyptic theme which makes absolutely no sense. Since the general slasher pantheon has a tendency toward mealy-mouthed moralizing (premarital sex usually leads to violent death, the "nice kids" often survive to defeat the killer), there is consequently nothing remotely original about this film's self-righteous attitude.
