Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Also known as The Better Man, this 5-reel Metro drama was adapted from Rupert Hughes' novel The Bridge. Most of the action takes place over a three-day period (even though the film's calendar-page close-ups are wildly inconsistent). Henry Kolker plays bridge engineer John Stoddard, in love with the daughter of the construction-company head. When the employees of the company go on strike, the liberal-minded Stoddard sides with them against management. The owner agrees to meet the strikers' demand, but only on condition that Stoddard never see his daughter again. Fortunately, love conquers all once again, and the flint-hearted owner finally consents to the marriage between hero and heroine. Ironically, actor Henry Kolker would later specialize in playing the sort of corporate fat-cats who were vilified in The Bigger Man.
