Music video director Darren Doane directs The Battle for L.A.: Footsoldiers, Vol. 1, a documentary about the world of hip-hop battles in the streets and clubs of Los Angeles. This hour-long film provides an introduction to the major rap battling community on the West Coast and features interviews and performances with emcees like Relentless, Pariah, Raphi, Zane, and Propaganda. Footage of turntablists and freestyle break dancers is also included. The film was recorded on-location at the Green Club in Venice, the Poetry Lounge in Hollywood, and various L.A. streets during July of 2003.
