Synopsis by Hal Erickson
There really was a Captain Charles Kettle: he was a renowned British adventurer and lecturer. Using funds that he'd accrued from his tours and book royalties, Captain Kettle was able to finance a silent motion picture about his exploits. The good captain modestly plays himself in this 5-reeler, which begins in Merrie Olde Englande and ends in the South Seas. To hear Kettle tell it, he becomes the overseer of a South American plantation, then is rescued from insurgent natives by leading lady Nina Grudgeon. After a thorough investigation, we concluded that nowhere in this film is there a Ma or Pa Kettle.
